Château Bernadotte sits on fine, gravelly soil that formerly had the right to the Pauillac appellation and formed part of a Cru Classé. The property was purchased in 1996 by Madame Lencquesaing, who also owns Pichon-Longueville-Comtesse-de-Lalande, and has experienced a rise in quality under her ownership.
Winemaker Notes
Produced on a gravel soil, the wines are endowed with a solid tannic structure. Rich in color, full-bodied yet delicate, they have elegance, charm and a generous bouquet, and are at their best 2-7 years after the vintage.
Like the Classified Growths of the Médoc, the wines come from a vineyard of sufficient size and heterogeneity to allow for a rigorous selection. With this objective, a second selection is made at the time of blending to create a second wine, Chateau Fournas-Bernadotte.
