“This is really fantastic with density and richness and lots of minerality. Full-bodied, layered and extremely long. This has so much density and agility in the center palate. Better than 2015 and 2016?”
94-96 Jeb Dunnuck
“Deeply colored, the 2018 Château Villemaurine comes from a terrific terroir of light clay over limestone (the classic terroir of the upper plateau around the village of Saint-Émilion) and is an 80/20 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc resting in 75% new French oak. Spicy oak, blackcurrants, incense, and sandalwood notes all emerge from this full-bodied yet elegant and beautifully balanced 2018. It has plenty of power but shines more for its elegant, seamless texture. It’s worth pointing out that Hubert de Boüard now consultants here, and this 2018 is a brilliant wine in the making.”
