Winemaker’s Notes
Handed down from father to son for four generations. Domaine Curvex is a small , family owned vineyard in Fuissé, right in the heart of the Pouilly – Fuissé appellation. Currently, the business is run by Joël Curveux and his son Guillaume. Located in southern Burgundy, their vineyards comprise 8 hectares of vines spanning the three villages of Fuissé, Solutré and Chaintré (1.20 ha of Macon-Fuissé, 0.50 ha of Macon-Chaintré and 6.20 ha of Pouilly – Fuissé.
Pouilly Fuissé “En Recepey” – 100% Chardonnay. Deep clay soils with residual chert. Plot of 1,5 acres at 800-1000 ft above sea level with an Eastern exposure. Age of the vines: 40 years.
Hand-picked grapes. No destemming before pressing. Fermentation with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks (malolactic depending on the acidity of the vintage)
Aging on the lees for 12 months both in new oak barrels (30%) and in stainless-steel tanks (70%). Use of different type of French oak barrels. Fining with bentonite (clay) and Kieselguhr (siliceous sedimentary rock) filtration
Pale yellow color with gold hues. Intense, fresh and floral nose with aromas of bergamot. Round and generous on the palate with a good minerality bringing freshness to the wine. Keep for 5-7 years.
