Description

“The 2015 La Fleur de Gay is dark and sumptuous in the glass. Plum, bittersweet chocolate, cloves, new leather, incense and tobacco all meld together in this unctuous, flamboyant Pomerol. The tannins need time to soften, but there is plenty to look forward to. This is an especially ripe style, but it all works nicely.” (2/2018) Antonio Galloni for Vinous

“Lots of delicious, smoky and ripe fruit character. Chocolate, too. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a decadent, rich finish. Gorgeous, young wine. Drink in 2021.” (2/2018) James Suckling

“The 2015 La Fleur De Gay is another awesome Pomerol in the vintage and this appellation is near the top of the hierarchy in 2015. Made from 100% Merlot from the plateau of the appellation, this ripe, sexy effort offers lots of blackcurrant jam, smoked herb, plums and espresso aromatics, full-bodied richness, a beautiful opulence, and decadence, as well as notable purity and elegance. It will be better with short-term cellaring and keep for two decades. 93+” (11/2017) Jeb Dunnuck

“Exceptionally dark. Very savoury nose. Then almost cocoa sweetness on the palate. Very flattering. 17/20 points.” (4/2016) Jancis Robinson

“The 2015 La Fleur de Gay was actually more timid on the nose than the La Croix de Gay, possibly due to the higher percentage of new oak used here. Still, with aeration, it is clear that there is more than enough fruit waiting in the wings. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, lithe in the mouth and well balanced with layers of licorice-tinged black fruit. Perhaps it does not require all that new wood on the finish, but I suspect it will be absorbed with 4-6 years in bottle. 91-93.” Neal Martin for Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“This has range, with plum, anise, blueberry and blackberry notes slowly melding together. There is still a dose of toast to soak up, but this shows fleshy drive through the finish. 90-93.” Wine Spectator
